Dr. Ephraim Kam has served as the Deputy Director of the Institute for National Security Studies at Tel Aviv University since 2006. He has a doctorate in Political Science and Government from Harvard University. He has taught graduate courses on Middle Eastern security issues at Tel Aviv University. Dr. Kam has twenty-two years of experience in the Israeli Defense Force as a Senior Analyst, focusing on strategic research on Middle Eastern affairs. In 1983, he became the Assistant Director of the Research Division for Evaluation, and attained a rank of colonel. He has written and published over 40 essays on Middle Eastern affairs since 1974, including articles titled "Marching Johnny Home: Evacuating the American Forces from Iraq," published in Strategic Assessment, volume 8; "Changes in Iran's Strategic Posture," and "The Ayatollah, Hizbollah and Hassan Nazrallah," both published in volume 9 of Strategic Assessment; and most recently, "The Iraqui Quagmire," published in The Middle East Strategic Balance.
